A
Personal Touch
Introduction
My name is Kelly Hittle and I would like to welcome you to Brown Bear Educare. Because childcare is such a personal business, I wanted to provide you with additional personal information about my program and myself. Anyone, who knows me well, can see how much I love working with children. As you get to know me, I am sure you find that I am also a very ethical person with high moral standards. I get a thrill out of watching children grow and succeed. This is why I have chosen to provide quality childcare as a profession.
A Little History
I had always known I was destined to teach children. I just didn't know in what capacity until I discovered Early Childhood Education. After attending college to become a music educator, I worked as a teachers assistant at Seattle Central Community College. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to work under an outstanding teacher and role model. I realized that I had found my niche in life, so I went back to college to earn my ECE (Early Childhood Education) certificate and make early childhood education my career. I became a teacher, and then the Program Director of a center. I eventually began Brown Bear Educare as a family childcare in September 1996 and expanded into a center the following year.
My husband, Craig, is my business partner. He and I together designed and remodeled our facility converting two home-like houses into our center. I would describe him best as a "Jack of all trades." He can fix just about anything. He also runs the financial part of our program to allow me to deal with the day to day issues.
Our Philosophy
We believe that young children must have high self-esteem in order to reach their potential growth. In order for a child to develop high self-esteem, we focus developing the socialization and self-help skills needed to succeed in other areas of development. All children at Brown Bear Educare are given the opportunity to explore, experiment and create in a safe and nurturing environment.
Our Program
We offered a well rounded educational program in a homey environment. Our teachers are educated and well trained to work with young children. We have two buildings that share a playground and parking lot. Infants & Preschool children are located in the lower building. Toddlers and young preschool children have the run of the upper building. Our staff work closely as a team. All the children know all the staff and all the staff know all the children. This makes transitions from class to class run smoothly.
